Port of New Orleans closed indefinitely after Hurricane Ida
August 29th. Exactly sixteen years after the passage of Katrina, which devastated the city, New Orleans became victim of another devastating hurricane, Ida, which caused at least one death, destroyed cars and buildings and left the city without light and with its port temporarily closed.
Craft, which operates FCL (full container load) in this port, follow the situation. The activity will not return before the energy in the city is restored.
“The closure of the Port of New Orleans, even if temporary, could overload other ports, such as Houston, and we need to study alternatives”, says Raphael Almeida, National Customer Service Manager at Craft USA.
“We will keep our customers informed of every step. In case of doubt, we will also be ready to serve you.”
